Whether you choose to go out or stay in, here are some fun ideas to make the day special for you and your spouse!

Show one another that you care and that you are grateful you said “I do.”

Go Out: You know that restaurant that you always talk about going to, but never actually gone to? Book a reservation there and dress up for it! Even if it’s not a fancy place, treat tonight like a special occasion and dress to impress! Grab the heels, a dress, that sport coat, some cufflinks, and take this date up a level. Next, TREAT YO SELF! Yep, order that dessert (or two) and share it with one another. It’s romantic, yummy and worth the calories. But don’t let the night end there! Go on a drive or a walk and spend some time just talking and being together.

Stay In: What’s more romantic than Italian food? Cooking Italian food together, or in this case, pizza! Make your own pizza dough or keep it simple and use your favorite from the store. Add some love and mold it into a heart shape! Add your favorite toppings, grab your favorite drink, and while the pizza cooks set the mood. Dim the lights, cover the living room in candles or string lights and get out the cuddliest blanket you own because it’s a rom com night! Pick a super cheesy rom com together and while you watch it and eat your pizza, spend time cuddling together. Make a game out of the movie and every time something cliche happens, share a kiss.

For you parents out there, be sure to send the kids to their grandparents, book a sitter, whatever you need to have a night where it’s just you and your spouse. Continuing to make time for each other in the midst of parenting is one of the most important aspects to having a thriving marriage.

Bonus Points!!! Want to really make this Valentine’s unforgettable?

Husbands, after your date night, draw your wife a hot bubble bath with candles, and if you’re feeling really fancy, some rose petals. Maybe you’ll get an invite…

Wives, initiate sex tonight! Put on some lingerie and make the first move. He’ll LOVE it!

Whether this is your 50th Valentine’s day together or your first, be intentional and make sure your spouse feels your love, attention, and effort. Go the extra mile and make them feel desired and loved today. Buy her some flowers, even if they are just from the grocery store. Get him that thing he’s been needing but put off buying. Show one another that you care and that you are grateful you said “I do.”
